WAPO MISSION Revival Historical Background

It was on the Tenth Anniversary of WAPO MISSION (2002) when a Special meeting was held purposely to evaluate the entire organizational progress, particularly, in the area of membership growth. After conducting an intensive self-assessment in this matter, a 10 years Strategic Plan was launched titled ONE MILLION FOR JESUS.
In the long-term plan, WAPO MISSION decided that within ten years (2003-2012); serious and intensive evangelism meetings be conducted in order to win not less than ONE MILLION new believers for Jesus in Tanzania.

The success of the vision depended partly on all WAPO Media facilities, such as WAPO RADIO FM, “Msemakweli” Sunday Newspaper, to mention a few, to the cause of promoting the ONE MILION FOR JESUS project.
On May 9th 2003 from 16.00-18.00 the first evangelistic meeting at WAPO MISSION in Kurasini Temeke, the ONE MILLION FOR JESUS project was officially launched. From that day on, the response has been tremendous! Thousands of people from all over the city and all walks of life have attended these healing services.

Due to the limited space at WAPO MISSION premises, in June 2004, these meetings were shifted to a larger Hall, formerly known as PTA at Sabasaba Grounds. It was over there, where the number of attendance increased from 2500 up to 6300.

Since June 2005, Services have moved to another acquired area in Mbezi Beach. Due to this shifting from PTA Hall to Mbezi Beach, the attendance dropped from 6,300 to 4,200 per week. This is due to the fact that at every major move of any congregation from one location to another the attendance always drops. However, currently a tremendous number of new converts (between 120-160) have been added to the congregation on weekly basis!

WHAT IS BCIC?
BCIC is a Biblical Counselling and Intercession Centre where personal counselling is voluntarily offered to individuals and intercessory prayer is made for people in need. This centre also is dedicated to provide special Biblical Courses designed to equip Christians from infancy stage up to the maturity for the work of the ministry.

VISION STATEMENT
To win ONE MILLION for Jesus by allowing Him to deliver them from demonic chains; fill them with the Holy Spirit so that they may worship God in spirit and truth; and become true disciples and committed members to the Body of Christ; and well equipped for the work of the ministry through their spiritual and ministerial gifts.

OBJECTIVES
• Winning one million for Jesus within 10 years period of time (2003-2012)
• To worship God in spirit and truth
• To become committed members to a local assembly
• To become true disciples of Jesus Christ
• To serve God through the use of spiritual gifts and personal talents

WHO ARE THE TARGETED GROUPS?
BCIC is devoted to minister to individuals who are troubled with spiritual, social, family and financial problems; and those who are desperately in need of personal Biblical counselling and special prayers that will result in receiving peace of mind and finding solutions to their problems. Targeted groups include:
• People with incurable diseases such as People Living with HIV/AIDS
• Marriage couples with unresolved conflicts
• Marriage spouses with problems of barrenness and miscarriages
• Young women and men confused in finding the right marriage partners
• People who are being tormented and tortured by demons and witchcraft
• Students who are full of fear of failing their exams
• Business people who are afraid of losing their investments
• Parents who are ashamed of destructive behaviours committed by their children
• Professionals experiencing problems in their professions
• Christians having divine calling but not sure of their specific ministerial fields
• and many other needs
